Jesfield Construction Company was founded by Jim Jesfield in 1968, and has been a fixture in the residential construction and bulkhead repair business in North Mason County ever since. From the time of Jim’s ownership, then through Frank Merrill’s decades of ownership, to Steve Merrill’s current tenure Jesfield Construction has been known for a commitment to customer service, an honest and forthright approach to their work, and a dedication to providing a finished product that both us and the homeowners can be proud of. Steve Merrill took the helm of the Company in 2021, after helping run the operation with his brother Frank for 15 years. Steve was born and raised in Belfair, growing up at the family home on the South Shore of Hood Canal. After graduating from North Mason High, he spent about 15 years training and then shipping out as a licensed Deck Officer in the Merchant Marine. His time at sea was spent on various types of vessels, from deep sea tugboats to container ships, including a couple years as Captain of a large factory trawler fishing for pollock in the Bering Sea. In 1995, it became time to spend more time at home, and he started his career in the construction business and has spent the last 30 years owning or operating residential construction companies. The future success of the Company is bright also, as Sam Merrill is now preparing to continue the family legacy of construction company ownership, committed to quality work and customer satisfaction. But a successful construction company consists of more than just the guy signing the checks.
